Introducing, Frugal by Choice, Cheap by Necessity CafePress store

It all started with some kale chips.

And me sitting on the couch one night asking Troy to come up with a clever title – What Doesn’t Kale You Makes You Stronger – for the kale chip post.

And then almost a year later, a reader by the handle “The Kitty City Gazette” left a random comment in my kale chip’s post saying something along the lines of “you should put that on a t-shirt”.

I laughed when I read the comment, and then thought “hmmm, why the hell not”?

I contacted a friend who seems to be a genius with design (she did my current blog layout) , and with a CafePress account.  She put together some items that prove to me, her genius continues.

And now, I bring you, the Frugal by Choice, Cheap by Necessity CafePress store, featuring all kinds of “What doesn’t kale you makes you stronger” items!

All t-shirts are made of organic cotton.  But wait, there’s more!

Are you like my three year old, and prefer to never wear clothes?  How about a Sigg water bottles, canvas bags, or even a onesie.

Tara and I set each item’s price at $2 above the production cost.  The items in the store are for people who live a frugal and fun lifestyle – we didn’t create this store to make our millions.  We created it to have fun, and offer fun products for people who love original items, and proclaiming their love of kale.

And for puns.  The love of puns.

We’re super excited about the store, and I hope you’ll check it out if you get the chance!

  4. Hi!
I love reading your blog, esp at work when I need a quick escape! I might just have to order the kale shirt for my husband. He is addicted to the stuff–raw!
Have you ever tried a massaged kale salad? I got a recipe from a friend with an organic farm and everyone who tries it wants the recipe. You take a bag of kale ($2.99 at my Kroger!), pick through it and pull out the stems, then sprinkle a teaspoon or two of kosher salt. Massage it with your hands for 2 minutes. It wilts to about 1/2 the amount. Then you mix unfiltered apple cider vinegar with olive oil, toss it. Then add gorgonzola crumbles, toasted sesame seeds, finely chopped red onion, peeled and chopped granny smith apple and craisens or fresh currants. It is even better after sitting in the fridge for a day or two.
    Thanks for blogging!
